Exploring Ha Noi

Today we visited the Ho Chi Minh memorial and the presidential palace. Interesting that his request was to be cremated and yet the government decided to create an elaborate memorial and to display his body for visitors. Quite bizarre really though I wouldn't say that out loud. The bayonets on the guards guns looked very scary. One even looked as if it had dried blood on it! Too much imagination I think. We then went to the museum of literature and ended up in the middle of a graduation ceremony for school students. It was noises and frenetic. Amazing clothes, flowers and pretty awful music. I think our guides were just relieved to be able to gather us all back onto the bus. Lunch was at a cooking school where they train street kids to cook and help them to find employment. Food was lovely and so cheap. Tonight the girls are going into the old quarter for dinner and some shopping and the parents are going back to the same restaurant. The photo is of the largest drum in Asia which is at the Literature Museum.
