The overnight train trip didn't seem nearly as bad this time. The group took up two and a half carriages and it was much less intimidating being surrounded by familiar faces. Even the toilets weren't quite so bad. Unfortunately there was an accident down the line, during the night which caused delays. We were due to arrive in Hue at 9.15 but current ETA is 12.00.. Already the temperature is increasing and the. Countryside has changed dramatically. A shower is sounding really good.

Goodbye to Ha Noi
The service at the cathedral was very long and very hot. We only understood a few words but the singing was magnificent. Sitting there with my eyes closed thinking of family and friends was quite special. A few of the group have been unwell over the past couple of days so we decided to opt for a western style lunch. Being unwell on the overnight train would not be a pleasant experience for anyone. After lunch Ella, Alicia and I went for Alastair wander (and shop) before we had to head back to the hotel to pack our bags. I think I have fallen in love with Ha Noi, amidst the 'organised chaos' the locals go about their business with smiles on their faces. There are pockets of serenity where you least expect to see them and the gardens are a treat.
