Homeward Bound

 Thursday

We went to breakfast at a nearby Roti Prada restaurant.  It is a fried flatbread usually served with a vegetable or meat based curry, or cheese, onions, banana, red beans, mushrooms or eggs.  Ella had gone at Christmas and was keen for us to try.  We were conservative in our choices, David had cheese and mushroom and I had cheese.  Our stomachs were struggling with eating such rich food for breakfast, but it was rather nice.

David and I set off to navigate our way to Decathlon, now that his swollen feet were feeling better.  We enjoyed the train ride and were fascinated watching people, old and young, glued to their phones as they went about their commute.  We were very restrained in our purchase as we had limited luggage space.  It did seem strange buying warm gear, after our time in London and Singapore where it felt like we would never be cool again.

Back to the apartment and lunch at another local hawker market, with Elton and Jacintha, before doing a final pack up.  We were treated to a taxi ride to the airport which was absolute bliss - air conditioned.  As you would expect in Singapore, our checkin was smooth and efficient and we were able to access one of the Star Alliance lounges - again, beautifully cool.  Did venture out to the butterfly enclosure which is much smaller than I had expected and was very hot and very crowded.  Did manage to see a few interesting butterflies though.

Our flight was slightly delayed by a late incoming aircraft, but nothing too serious.

Friday

We are now waiting in Auckland for our final flight to Dunedin.  It was 13 degrees when we landed and looked decidedly wintery.  The sun is shining a bit now so doesn't look too bad.  Lots of little bumps on the flight and no sleep - bed will be good tonight.  So looking forward to Cici hugs as well.

Another awesome adventure almost complete.  We were lucky that all of our planning and booking ahead worked out well, without any major dramas.  We had the opportunity to explore places that we have never visited before and have time to be part of Ella's life in London.

Thank you for your messages and support - now we'll have to start planning the next one!
