France and our home for a week....

The Water Mill Villa - our home for a week
This morning we said goodbye to Girona and caught the train to Toulouse via Narbonne, catching the TGV and then local train.  The countryside changed as soon as we crossed the boarder between Spain and France. Once inToulouse we caught the local bus to the airport - another taste of local life, where we picked up our rental cars. Ours is a very nice Peugeot 308, and upgrade from what we had paid for, and Craig and Annette have an i30.  Still trying to work out the GPS and we needed help to get the car information in English. We drove about 100 km north to the ‘watermill’ where we are staying for the week.  It is in a valley, with a stream running underneath the building.  An absolutely amazing place complete with a cat called Herbert and even an otter that we glimpsed tonight, just on dusk.  The house is a delight and the owners left so much food I think it will keep us going for the whole week. We did go to the supermarket on the way and bought vast quantities of chocolate because it was so cheap.
We drove up the hill to Loze a local village about 5 km from the house.  We met an English guy who now lives in the village - population of 126! Incredibly they have a Mayor. Tomorrow night they are having the opening of their new, and only, bar which we now have an invitation to. There are a number of houses for sale in the village, one for 95,000 euro - very tempting.

We drove along the narrow country roads past incredible old buildings, back to the watermill. Sitting around the dinner table, trying the local cider and wine, good food, great company, doesn’t get much better.

What a great place to spend a week. Hope you will be warmer than we are - 4 degrees today with snow on the hills. Enjoy and take care. Gay
