Woke up this morning to discover that ‘the rain in Spain doesn’t necessarily fall mainly on the plain’. It was a cold, wet and miserable morning. We had planned a waking tour around the city, but it was just too wet. Even the shops were more appealing, which the girls took full advantage of. We had breakfast at a delightful cafe just down the street from the apartment. Croissants to die for! We did walk to the cathedral and the castle, but the weather made walking pretty unpleasant. On the way we discovered a market where the locals gather to eat and drink at lunch time. it was wonderful to see all the different and unusual foods that were available. Ella had strawberries and pineapple, both of which were delicious. We spent time wondering the streets just soaking up the lives of the local people. A bit more shopping before we went to el Prada, the art museum. The works of el Greco and Bosch were amazing and well worth a visit. Another delicious dinner to celebrate our last night in Madrid.

The rain did not seem to deter you although it looks like you were the only ones out on the street. Continue to enjoy. Safe travels. Gay
