On the ice....

Mono Lake

Up early this morning and headed to Caples Lake hoping to ice skate.  Great to find the whole lake frozen despite the rather dull weather.  Had a good skate, chatted to some locals, then headed to Red Lake for another skate.  Interesting talking to ice fishers while there.  They seem to share a common interest.... fish and beer.

Headed to Bodie ghost town - a place I had been interested in visiting for a while.   Usually this time of year the road in is snowed under but not this time.  Bodie was startling!  So much of the town is frozen in time and hard to believe this was a mining town full of action - bars, saloons etc in the middle of nowhere.
On the way through to Bishop I stopped in at Mono Lake for a wander among the Tufa stacks.
Weather is warm for this time of year so not sure where I will end up tomorrow as it looks too warm for skating.
